In a recent interview with FundedNext, Robert Swetlin, a full-time trader from Slovenia, opened up about his challenging journey into the world of trading, the lessons he learned along the way, and how he went from struggling in life to becoming a consistently profitable trader.

Robert, now 33, started his career in trading seven years ago while serving in the military. With over a decade in the infantry, including a deployment in Kosovo, his life wasn’t easy. At the same time, he faced significant personal challenges, including caring for a sick girlfriend and their newborn daughter. The weight of responsibility pushed Robert to explore new ways of providing for his family.

Realizing the volatility of the crypto market, Robert transitioned to Forex and commodities trading. He found it a smoother transition and began diversifying his trades across multiple markets, including gold and oil. “Why participate in just one market when you can trade them all?” Robert said, emphasizing his strategy of adaptability.

For Robert, the key to his breakthrough was mental resilience. He described hitting rock bottom financially and emotionally while still in the military, a period marked by overwhelming debts and personal hardship. Yet, it was in these dark moments that he realized something critical: “If you can lose money so fast in the markets, you can also earn it fast.”

Through self-reflection and a commitment to personal growth, Robert learned to master his emotions. He emphasized that success in trading requires more than technical analysis—it’s about mindset, discipline, and risk management. “You can’t succeed in these markets without going through personal hardship,” he said, adding that the market reflects your emotions. “If you’re angry or stressed, the market will give that back to you.”

Closing Remarks

His journey, marked by perseverance, mental strength, and a commitment to continuous improvement, reminds us that success in the markets often starts with personal growth. Through FundedNext, Robert continues to share his experiences and strategies, encouraging new and experienced traders alike to never give up and to keep working towards their goals.
